JILL SHAPIRO-DURAN is a published food writer, specializing in content writing, editing and proofreading. In addition to cultivating original food and travel pieces, she has experience in recipe development, menu engineering and culinary consulting.
Born and raised in New York, she grew up eating her way through the many diverse, multicultural neighborhoods. Traveling abroad from an early age only sparked her curiosities, while she expanded her sense of the world through food. Initially graduating from Hofstra University’s, Frank G. Zarb School of Business with a BBA in Marketing, Jill spent time in various industries. However, her passion for food and wine eventually drove her towards pursuing a culinary career. |

Jill then attended the renowned Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. After graduation, she worked briefly for the PBS television show Dish It Up Italian Style and Dish It Up Productions. At the company, she contributed to the development of new food product lines and created marketing plans for a variety of new venues.
Shortly thereafter, she went on to pursue a writing career, authoring food columns and articles for magazines on both the East and West Coast. Publications include The Best of Long Island Restaurants and Entertainment Magazine in NY, as well as, What’s On Magazine in Las Vegas. While under their employment, she was Food/Web Content Editor, respectively. With both a background in the Culinary and Marketing fields, it has given her a broad base in which she approaches her writing style.
Jill currently lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and 5 rescue dogs, where she follows the exciting, ever-growing food scene.
